What it does

Phones, high ISO, dark venues, night streets: the crawl goes, the edges and texture stay.

NP Denoise takes out the moving grain of video noise but keeps edges, texture and skin. The left half of the preview is the original, the right half is cleaned.

Fast mode runs in real time, so you can keep it on while you edit. Switch Mode to AI for the final render, where a denoising network does the last pass.

Grain Amount and Grain Size put back a fine, film-like grain if the clean picture feels too smooth. View › Show Noise shows exactly what was removed.

How it works

  1. Measure

    The noise is measured on your own frames, luma and chroma, against brightness.

  2. Align

    Neighbouring frames (Temporal Frames) are motion-compensated onto the current one, coarse to fine.

  3. Average carefully

    They are averaged only where they agree. Motion Sensitivity rejects what noise can’t explain, so moving things don’t ghost.

  4. Clean up

    An edge-aware spatial pass cleans what is left. In AI mode a NAFNet network, on your Mac, guides that pass.
